BETA-GALACTOSIDASE, ALFA–GALACTOSIDASE AT HIGH CONCENTRATION
β-galactosidase is an enzyme naturally present in humans. Normally, its activity is highest at birth but physiologically declines with age.
β-galactosidase plays an essential role as it helps the digestion of lactose and of foods containing it, reducing the fermentation and the production of intestinal gas.
α-galactosidase, enzyme not synthesized by the human body, plays an important role because it helps the digestion of complex carbohydrates present in some foods, reducing fermentation processes and the production of gas.
Caraway (Carum carvi), also known as meridian fennel, or Persian cumin, helps regulate intestinal motility and the elimination of intestinal gas.
1-2 tablets before a meal or before the assumption of food containing lactose or non-digestible carbohydrates. Tablets can be swallowed or chewed.

Lactose intolerance, not considered as allergy, but as a real difficulty in the digestion of this sugar, is the most frequent intolerance in the world.
This is due to the reduction of β-galactosidase enzyme responsible of lactose digestion. This enzyme breaks down lactose into the two simple sugars that comprise it, glucose and galactose, allowing its absorption and use.

In cases of lack of β-galactosidase, lactose reaches undigested the intestine where it is fermented by the flora, causing problems such as diarrhoea, abdominal pain and cramps, bloating and flatulence.
Lactose is present not only in milk and dairy products (cheese, butter, cream, yogurt), but also in much other food that we would not expect to find it in, as it is used as a preservative in meat, minced meat, chicken meat, mashed potatoes, instant soups, baked goods, candy, snacks and many others.

Not digestible oligosaccharides are complex carbohydrates, contained in a wide variety of cereals, legumes, fruit and vegetables.
Fruit and vegetables, besides being rich in vitamins and minerals, favour regular intestinal transit but can also induce fermentation processes, causing bloating and colic disorders. Not only vegetables and fruit, but also sugars present in dough, bread and white flour cause bloating and abdominal tension, just like legumes and nuts.
Our organism does not produce the enzyme that can digest these oligosaccharides, so that they arrive unchanged to our colon where they ferment causing: swelling, flatulence, bloating.
To help digestion and prevent bloating it is important to take up some good habits and follow a balanced diet, rich in vegetables, and learn to chew slowly, avoid the consumption of soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, do not smoke, choose food grains rich in fibre and avoid refined flour.
